Stupeur et tremblements

Stupeur et tremblements - Amélie Nothomb I don't know what exactly to think about this book... At the beginning it was quite interesting - a Belgian girl starting to work in a Japanese group, so the author started off with some intercultural communication challenges and misunderstandings, as well as funny situations. But the whole story turned out to be rather annoying. Particularly the main character (Amélie) seems to be unable to do anything right and commits a series of major faux pas that every normal person would have dealt with in a completely different way - if you don't know how to perform a task that you have been assigned, the normal way of working it out would in my opinion be to ask someone, but that maybe didn't seem the right thing to do for Amélie, so in the end she was degraded to lavatory attendant!! ;)
